ABOUT

I am a ceramic artist, specialising in hand building techniques, with a focus on the vessel form, texture, and surface decoration.

I studied ceramics under acclaimed tutors, Annie Turner, Robert Cooper and Sara Radstone, on the renowned City Lit Diploma course, in London, graduating in 2011, but I’ve been making all my life.

My work is an impressionistic response to place and experience. My current body of work is informed by the geology and topography of the Suffolk coast, where erosion is a constant theme of the exposed landscape. The elements, and tide, constantly batter, wear and sculpt.

Vessels are constructed with finely rolled slabs of stoneware clay. Manipulated walls form a canvas on which I apply layer upon layer of slip and glaze, oxide and stain, with a brush, so each piece is unique.

My life long passion for clay began at school, aged thirteen, though it was many years before I realised my ambition to be a professional potter, following my first career at the BBC, producing programmes.

In 2014 I was selected for One Year On at New Designers. I am an alumni of the Arts Council funded Crafts Council Hothouse programme, and a Selected member of the Craft Potters Association.   I have shown work at prestigious London gallery, Flow, and had three solo shows at the internationally recognised New Craftsman Gallery, St Ives.

In 2018 I was selected for the London Creative Network’s professional development programme delivered by Cockpit Arts and I show my work at  Ceramic Art London, the country’s leading international contemporary ceramics event.

I have work in several private collections.
